Arnfield Independent School: feedback for teachers who work one to one
Arnfield supports vulnerable and in-care young people, and much of its teaching is one to one. Its teachers now get private feedback on their sessions with nobody else in the room.

Arnfield supports vulnerable and in-care young people. Much of the teaching is one to one, and classroom life can be unpredictable.
The challenge
Traditional observation is hard to do well in a setting like Arnfield. When most of the teaching is one to one, having an observer in the room changes the dynamic for the young person, so teachers rarely got feedback on their own teaching.
One of Arnfield's teachers put it like this:
"Most of my teaching is one to one, so being observed has always felt awkward for me and changes the dynamic for the young person. Now I get feedback on what actually happened in the session, and I decide what to work on. It feels like my development, not someone else's judgement of me."
What changes
Arnfield's teachers use EducAitor after their sessions. Lessons are recorded on their device, and within about 30 seconds of finishing they get private, developmental feedback on what happened, with nobody else in the room. No recordings are kept, and the teacher decides what to work on.
For the first time, teachers can share that feedback with their line managers and get more personal, targeted support. For Arnfield, that means better support and CPD for staff, and a better experience for the young people they teach.
