Alternative provision for vulnerable and in-care young people
For the first time, teachers working one to one can share feedback on their teaching with line managers and get targeted support.

Who they are
Arnfield Independent School is an alternative provision school for vulnerable and in-care young people. Its teachers often work with one young person at a time.
The challenge
Arnfield supports vulnerable and in-care young people, where classroom life is unpredictable and traditional observation is hard to do well. Much of the teaching is one to one, and having an observer in the room can change the dynamic for the learner, so teachers rarely got feedback on their teaching.
Most of my teaching is one to one, so being observed has always felt awkward for me and changes the dynamic for the young person. Now I get feedback on what actually happened in the session, and I decide what to work on. It feels like my development, not someone else's judgement of me.
What happened
EducAitor® gives staff private, developmental feedback on their sessions without anyone in the room, and helps leaders see where support is needed.
The impact
For the first time ever, teachers can now share feedback and insights into their teaching with their line managers to receive more personalised and targeted support. This supports the wider organisation in providing better support and CPD opportunities for their staff, and ultimately a better learning experience for their learners.
